A 'Little' Sea Army's Perspective

Being in a little shoe of a Sea Army creates experience you will never have when you leave Uni College life. This was what I was today as a Sea Army going around promoting our Connect2Conserve campaign - Very glad about. And excited too.

THE BEGINNING OF TGIF

The beginning of the day started out well because right before we headed for our first Hall 2 Hall announcement, we had a group of Media Studies students' who came up to us to asked us for our picture as they needed it for their assignment. We were glad they approached us. It happened coincidentally actually, we were getting ready and suddenly they approached us out of thin air. Guess both sides were lucky in terms of supporting.

With the Students of Media Studies

We proceeded with the Hall 2 Hall announcement. As I had been busy preparing the write-ups for the team with my group, I did not get the chance to go for the Hall 2 Hall announcement as frequent. Therefore, I was excited. The best part of this 'journey' with Poseidon and the Sea Armies is - The crowd gives you great feedback. Students' are attentive when it comes Poseidon walking into the hall. Even the lecturers are amazed of the outfit we created and asked me WHY? I was also asked - How we made the shell?

One of the lecture hall the Sea Army visited

We managed to cover a lot of lecture halls in about 4 to 5 hours straight. We were going around each hall collecting pledges from students and lecturers to continue the conservation effort on sea turtles. It is not difficult to explain and asked them for their signature to continue supporting this effort - It is rather easy that we have an amount of students' who can and would support not only our campaign but at the same time to be in-support of WWF-Malaysia.

 A Good Visitation

One thing I notice about the students' - All they want to know is HOW can they win the Nokia Lumia 920 & 820. Some even asked if they could win an Iphone 5. There were a couple of teasing going around for Nigel as the Poseidon. I am not sure if that is a positive or a negative thing but what I can say it that we have been receiving good feed-backs and even the turtle mobile car has been going well as a lot of them notice the car - Everywhere

Overall, it has been an experience I would like to have again - Don't think I'll get the chance in college though but in the corporate world - IT'S A DEFINITE. Therefore, before signing off - I would like to thank Ms Lim who has been a good adviser to the group and of course to my External Relations team. She has been there to guide the whole team closely while giving us the advice and idea we can learn from. It has not been easy for her but she continues to guide and support us with all the time she has for this team. I can never forget the guidance she provides us as her students of TARUC :)

 Signing Off. . . Goodnight !

Transformation of 'R' Turtles, no matter BIG or SMALL

The campaign name itself, Connect2Conserve already shows that it is a go-green project that use recycling materials to educate Tarucian about conserving sea turtles, in support of WWF-Malaysia. Here you go along with the sea armies from Advanced Diploma in Mass Communication (Public Relations) that now have reborn hundreds of turtles with the recycling material.

WHAT A GREAT EFFORT! DID WELL WITH LOW BUDGET!

THROUGH POSEIDON'S VISION "CONNECT 2 CONSERVE" MASCOT

Oh oh oh oh My...I am LATEEEEE!!! :)

Well, Connect 2 Conserve campaign is getting closer and closer, it is just a week away!! Throughout this week, the publicity for our campaign has been going on around college.

Just so that everyone knows, one of the role that I play in this campaign is to wear the Poseidon costume. My task is to give out the announcement of the campaign to lecture halls throughout the college on the daily basis.

Here is the team that was with me yesterday in our quest to spread the news about our campaign. They are very active and believe, me, they are active!!

When I was given the task of being Poseidon, i thought it would be easy, but believe me, i never though it was so hard! Eventually, i gotten the hang on it and now i actually enjoy playing this role even though its tiring but its fun!

Most of the comments i receive from the students is that I am cute. No i am not making this up, in fact, if you check with the team that supports me in the lecture hall announcements, you will know that there were some cute looking girls took pictures with me. HAH!

This was the photo taken during the announcement to the Diploma in Accounting students. That is me holding the trident :)

I was explaining to the enginnering students on the turtle being endangered and about Connect 2 Conserve campaign.

From the back view, its cool to look the Slogan of our event " A PHONE RECYCLED, A FUTURE FOR TURTLE" in separate boards in the front and of course, our campaign logo!

Our cute little turtle girl going around and getting students to sign pledge forms :)

We receive comments that the girls in turtle shell looks cute. HAHAHA!!!

Oh no!! look at the time,I"M LATE AGAIN!!! I need to go costume up for the Hall 2 Hall announcement. Overall, i can say, we reached out to many students, and we did make an impact and we hope, they can join in our cause to save the turtle!!

Poseidon - Peace Out!!
