When the wind is about to blow...

Frankly speaking, i was having a big problem on recognizing things that looked similar when i was young, so i cant differentiate between turtle and tortoise. They both belong to the same family of reptiles called Testudines!

I still remembered my dad brought me to zoo and I literally looked at a tortoise but shouted out loud saying :" Pa, next time we need no travel to Terengganu to look for turtle, we can come to zoo!"

And, the awkward moment slices in the atmosphere...

Trust me, I'm assure you that at least more than 50% of the people out there could not recognize them as well, but no worries, it is always good to learn new things in your life. Let me share some interesting facts about them!

DID YOU KNOW?

  • Turtles have been on the earth for more than 200 million years. They evolved before mammals, birds, crocodiles, snakes and even lizards.
  • The earliest turtles had teeth and could not retract their heads, but other than this, modern turtles are very similar to their original ancestors.
  • The shell of a turtle is made up of 60 different bones all connected together.
  • Turtles have good eyesight and an excellent sense of smell. Hearing and sense of touch are both good and even the shell contains nerve endings.

and

  • Tortoise mostly stay on land whereas turtles swim in the water.
  • Tortoise have a huge dome shaped heavy shells while turtles have a flat, light shell ( makes it easier to swim in the water).
  •  Tortoise have bent feet and Turtles have webbed feet.
  • Tortoise are vegetarians and the Turtles are Omnivores. Tortoises can live up to 150 years where as turtles have a smaller life span of 80 years.

Okeyyy, enough for today's knowledge , lets focus on something important that we would like to update y'll.
