Closing Ceremony:

Connect2Conserve Campaign had come to the last day where a lot of crowds have gathered for the important closing ceremony. At 4.30p.m, the ceremony had started off with the announcement of winners for the “Guess the Egg” who will walk away with premium set of Nokia’s merchandises. Mr Lee Hwee Chuin, the Head of School of Social Science, Arts and Humanities was invited onto the stage to present the prizes to the winners. Before that, the eggs in the box were counted by Mr Lee and it turned out to be 136 eggs inside the box. There were a total of 18 winners who are lucky enough to guess the right amount.

Mr. Chee Weng Kiat was lucky enough to walk away with the premium prize with happy face. Last is what everyone is waiting for, the top scorer for the game booths and also the winner of Lumia 920. It was won by Mr Cheah Ji Hau, who had the high scores accumulated from 4 game booths. He was delighted as he got his prize on the stage.

After that, is the announcement of the pledges to save the sea turtles that are being collected over the period of time of this Connect2Conserve Campaign, which are 5206 pledges. At the same time, a puzzle was formed by everyone who signed pledge during the event will be given to WWF Malaysia as token of appreciation. Not forgetting the phones that are being collected for Nokia. We managed to exceed our target of 800 phones by collecting total 1001 phones during the campaign. Both were great achievements achieved by the committees and the people who contributed in the campaign. For the C2C challenge, the target of 400 phones for Mr Lee was hit and the target of 288 phones for Mr Chuan Tek Pheung was hit as well. They both have to wear the sea turtle shell during the time set as we have made an agreement earlier.

The ceremony continued with speech given by Ms Marilyn, Project Manager of Connect2Conserve Campaign. She was surprised as we were managed to exceed the record set by seniors and felt happy as this campaign had done its best to educate the public to learn more about conserving sea turtles and recycle their old and unwanted phones. She was grateful as the campaign carried out very well. Later on, Mr Lee also gave his speech. He mentioned that the students do their best to achieve more and excel more in studies and also other activities. All he can do is to give full support to the students so that they can do better. He was happy as he saw his students able to do so much and so good for the activity and he hope that the generation yet to come can excel better. He hope that we will not just stop and enjoy this moment of success but to continue to make ourselves better and achieve more. With that, he officially closed the Connect2Conserve Campaign.

With this, our committee would like to thank to all the staffs, volunteers and public who came and helped to make this campaign a successful one. More importantly, we deeply thanks to Ms Lim Siz Siz, our beloved supervisor for guiding and helping us throughout this event.

After event:
It came to a busy moment for us where we need to dismantle and pack all the stuffs in the hall before we were allowed to go back. We divided the job among ourselves and the process went very smooth. All the materials being used are being separated for recycling purpose to minimize the pollution. We had fun during cleaning and still manage to finish the entire cleaning job within the time set.

Thoughts:
It was a very good experience for me to be able to be part of such a campaign. It was sweat and tiredness throughout this campaign which is worth for my effort. I was very happy as we were able to achieve such good result which I could not expected as the phones being collected during the 2nd day was still far from our target. Our publicity team had done their best effort to promote our campaign and attract crowds to come. As a result, a lot of people came with phones for recycling on the last day of the campaign and helped us to achieve the target. During the course of planning and executing this campaign, we had some arguments and also disagreements but yet we all managed to sort them out and overcome each obstacle one at a time. I was able to learn to cooperate and communicate with others. I was able to apply all the things that I had learned from textbook into the campaign.

Thanks everyone!
